Virginia Haizlip graduated from The George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC. During law school, Ms. Haizlip was an intern in the Compliance Department of the National Association of Federal Credit Unions. Ms. Haizlip began her legal career dealing with civil litigation matters but she now practices exclusively in the area of family law, representing clients in all aspects of divorce, custody, and other family law matters. She is experienced in complex divorce and custody cases, as well as domestic abuse cases. A staunch supporter of women’s rights, Ms. Haizlip offers her services at a discount to women referred by a local domestic violence abuse shelter and volunteers on a local hotline for survivors of domestic violence. Ms. Haizlip handles cases in Virginia as well as the District of Columbia. Ms. Haizlip also focuses her practice on employees and spouses of employees of the federal government, especially cases involving foreign assignments.

Ms. Haizlip earned her undergraduate degree from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, where she was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society. While at Colgate, Ms. Haizlip received the prestigious Elizabeth Cady Stanton Award, which is awarded annually to a Colgate student for their dedication and work in improving the lives of others. As an undergraduate, Ms. Haizlip participated in off-campus study programs in Copenhagen, Denmark and Washington, DC, working as an intern for Representative Carolyn Maloney and for the United States Department of Justice.

Ms. Haizlip is active in several local bar associations, including the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Virginia Women’s Attorneys Association. Ms. Haizlip serves on the Fairfax Bar Association Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court committee. Ms. Haizlip is also active in her local community and volunteers with a local anti-poverty organization and at her church.
